You’re probably wondering what I’m talking about.
The ladder I’m referring to is the ladder of success or for people that still work a 9-5 job, the corporate ladder.
I’ve worked my entire life with one goal in mind: Make enough money so I can retire as quickly as possible.
And as of 2019 it is almost a reality.
For the fence company I put in maybe 3-5 hours a week if that.
And you would think I would be extremely happy, but I wasn’t.
You see, unless you’re accomplishing tasks that are high on your priority list, you’ll probably never be fulfilled.
What are those priorities?
They’re usually in the following categories.
- Love
- Family
- Health
- Spiritual
- Charity/Giving Back
- Money
For me I also went after money because I never had enough.
But when I finally accomplished the money goal I still felt like something was missing.
So what did I do?
I made a spreadsheet of everything I wanted to accomplish every week.
While I would like to accomplish everything on the spreadsheet I know that’s not going to happen.
So for me, I’m fine with accomplishing 80%.
What’s on my list? A little bit of every category I mentioned above with a stronger focus on my top priority: Giving Back.
That’s why I decided to give away everything I learned for free.
The goal is to help as many of you guys as I can. And in return I get those warm fuzzy feelings.
Seriously though, for me it’s much more rewarding to see a transformation in someone I help than seeing my bank account balance go higher.
So what’s next?
I would sit down and see what would matter most to you if you didn’t have to work for money anymore.
And the items that would give you the most joy, start making an effort to do more of them.
In the short time that I’ve done this, I feel less anxiety and just feel happier in general.
